Our facility provides a safe haven for people to challenge themselves with no fear of judgement, to reach new heights with the support of mentors and to build a sense of confidence through lessons learned from alive martial arts.
Our Story
SBG Cork was founded by brother and sister duo, Liam-Og and Marlene Griffin, whose martial arts journey began under the tutelage of their parents, Teresa and Liam Snr., in the disciplined world of Shotokan Karate. Their deep-rooted passion for martial arts and desire to create a thriving community of practitioners led them to establish K2C Martial Arts & Fitness Centre in 2010. The vision was clear: to create a center of excellence where a wide variety of martial arts, from Karate and Kickboxing to Muay Thai, BJJ, and Boxing, could be taught and practiced.
In 2014, the gym took a major leap forward by joining the renowned SBG International network, becoming an affiliate and officially rebranding as SBG Cork in 2015. Over time, the gym evolved and streamlined its focus toward Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), with special emphasis on the core disciplines of BJJ, Kickboxing, and Wrestling – the foundational elements of MMA. Today, SBG Cork stands as a proud member of the SBG family, nurturing personal growth through martial arts in a community-driven environment.
